My keyboard is a multimedia one,
some keys cannot be recognised by XEV..
so i commanded:

setkeycodes e005 90

then I can get a keycode to make the keys work.
but If i reboot, the multimedia keys cannot work again...that means i need to re-command setkeycodes again.
could someone tell me how to change the keys permanently and how to change back to default configuration?

You can put the setkeycodes command(s) in your
/etc/conf.d/rc file - I don't know how to set it back
the way it started though.

Sorry - not the rc file; I meant the /etc/conf.d/local.start file.

go get xbindkeys

use xbindkeys -k to get the code from the keys you want to map, then you give whatever action you want to the keys in the .xbindkeysrc file. Works like a charm. xbindkeys starts when I start the computer (through xfce), I guess you can fix that part in other ways.

Example, I open an xterm by hittin one key like this
Code:

"xterm -fa "Andale mono" -fs 11 -bg black -fg Limegreen -geometry 99x36 &"

Moved from Documentation, Tips & Tricks to Kernel & Hardware, please don't post support questions to DT&T.
