hello,
while i am aware of samba, i have a 2 part question...
1) is there a way to mount a windows share without using samba? i tried cifs, but all i get is:
Quote: | CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -22 |
i tried lisa, but it keeps telling me the daemon isn't running. (edit: i got lisa working, but i get "unknown protocol smb" when i go to lan:/localhost/remotehost/smb/ - i though cifs was enough?)
2) is there a way to set up a share compatible with windows without using samba/cifs? i tried nfs, but it seems there are no free windows nfs clients. (that i could find, but if there is one, awesome)
thanks, i'm sure this has been asked before.

WebDAV |
i'd rather use something not web-enabled.
thanks though
perhaps i should rephrase... i didn't want to set up a samba server because its a real pain to keep smbusers and pam users and ldap users all synchronized... i'd rather do it without the hassle if possible. services for nfs is just as bad, such a pain to set up, i think i gave up before i got that one working.
edit: does lisa provide the lan:/ functionality? i found out that works, providing i had samba installed. (i don't think i need to configure it specifically though, thank god lol) _________________
