Hi!
I wan't to buy a widescreen monitor to my laptop.
Could someone please help me find out which monitor-properties that will fit with my graphic card? (Things like aspect ratio, resolution, ...)
lspci gives me:
Quote: | 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express Graphics Controller (rev 03)
00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express Graphics Controller (rev 03) |
If it helps my laptop screen has: 1366x768 (16:9)
Thanks! _________________ Dig where you stand! |

Which Laptop do you have? The specs at the mfg website should tell you specifically what the capabilities of the external monitor port are. _________________ - Failure is not an option. It's bundled with your software. |

I have a Sony Vaio TX2. The best product information I could find was at this page.
What is the "mfg website"? _________________ Dig where you stand! |

I already have checked that the manual which came with the laptop, and about external screen and graphics it says pretty much "connect the VGA-cable to the computer and you will get the image on the other screen".
I have tried to find out what graphic card I have and from my lspci I think this is my card (not sure) and all it says is a maximum resolution. I want to know what / which properties on a screen that fits my laptop best. _________________ Dig where you stand! |

Which model is it exactly? Also, if you start xorg with both monitors hooked up and view /var/log/Xorg.0.log it should tell you what is detected as it being capable of. _________________ - Failure is not an option. It's bundled with your software. |

Do you mean the graphics card? In my manual it says Intel GMA 900 which is the card I posted the link for before.

I haven't bought any monitor yet, but I guess I could try it in the shop. _________________ Dig where you stand! |
