|
|
All,
I'm trying to get LVM to work on one of my servers here... This is the first time I've tinkered with LVM.
Anyways, I followed the directions found here:
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/lvm2.xml
Everything works fine in the installation, but when the system is booting up, I get the following error:
Code: | Failed to open the device '/dev/lvmSys/usr': No such file or directory |
(this error appears multiple times -- once for each instance of an LVM partition in my fstab)
Now, the only difference that I can see between the HowTo's directions and my installation is that I built in the "Device mapper support" directly into the kernel (instead of using a module).
Any thoughts on why this may be happening?

Are your volumes functional after boot? Does a vgscan find them? |

I am sorry, I forgot to update this thread as solved.
Turns out I was missing something from the kernel configuration.
Look carefully and make sure all the LVM stuff is set up in the kernel as the docs say it should. _________________ "My downfall raises me to infinite heights." -Napoleon Bonaparte |

Problems can also happen if you forget to emerge lvm2 before rebooting. |
