Gusanos can be described as Real time worms or 2D quake.
It is a Liero clone.
Very fun and worth the download and compilation.

Wow! This looks cool and would be even more cool to emerge it from a cvs ebuild? Anyone? (-:

Nero

Great game that allows you to train the ai of combat robots and pit your robots against others. You train your robots by letting them perform simple tasks (approach enemy, hit enemy, navigate a maze). Afterwards you can pit them against other robot teams.

Hi,

(hope it's right in here :) )
I made an ebuild for ja2-stracciatella, a source-port of Jagged Alliance 2 using the Sourcecode released by Strategy First Inc. For the moment sound is not working (but in the works) and there are some other issues, but we are porting on.

For now there are also some issues to be cared for:

- the file SFI-SCLA ist to be copied to /usr/portage/licenses (You may have guessed - it's the license the source was distributed bei Strategy First Inc.).
- You have to provide an already existing installation of Jagged Alliance 2 done in Windows (as neither of us had the Linuxversion at hand we can't tell whether the Linuxversion of the datafiles will work)

As this is my first try to build an ebuild it may be wrong/incorrect/trying to burn innocents houses. If I did things "the wrong way" please feel happy to tell me :)

I was frustrated by the number of strategy games I could play under Linux. So I've written a webbased strategy game in the spare time I have from school to be able to play.
Please check it out and tell(pm) me what you think about it.
You can find it at http://www.voidofspace.com.

Compatible
100% Firefox
90% konqueror
'don't care'% internet explorer. (Though it works 100% as far as I tested it)

As a core member of the development team, I feel a little bad about announcing this myself, but I don't seem to be the only one who does this.

It's not a full game though, it's only a techdemo.

open Outcast

It will be an action adventure, a free sequel to Outcast.

I have got a segmentation fault on Gentoo 64 Bit. Other than that, it seems to work fine for most Linux people.

[quote="Spark"]Not exactly new, but maybe some missed it.
It is the 0.3 demo of Adonthell, not featuring the full game or part of the story but you can already walk around and talk and they have created an extra story for this demo. It's free software, so if you can help creating it if you want. The demo isn't very long of course but I have fun with it, it's a nice little story. :) It runs in 320x240 (but nice looking graphics) so you better put this resolution into your XF86Config to get fullscreen. It's available from here:
adonthell.linuxgames.com/

It would be awesome if someone could create an ebuild for it.

On a related note, make sure to check out the Ultima 1 remake (in realtime first person 3D) techdemo from here:
http://www.peroxide.dk/ultima/

The story is pretty dull but it's a techdemo after all... The engine is very impressive for a freeware RPG and you will need a fast CPU and 3D acceleration.
Just to wet your appetite:
[img]http://www.peroxide.dk/ultima/screenshots/shot02_1.jpg[/img][/quote] yeh why not

This is a linux forum. Posting about a game that doesn't have a linux port (and using messed up BBCode) makes you look like a spambot or a noob.

Also, I don't get how people can make a mac version and not make a linux one. I mean, there couldn't possibly be enough of a difference between the two that a compile and fix operation couldn't take more than a day or two. Unless you use OS-specific calls all the time.

EDIT: Ooh, thought you were a spam bot for a second there. Let's make that first sentence a little less harsh.

There was a release of the new(ish) Playstation emulator pSX this weekend.

http://psxemulator.gazaxian.com/

Version 1.11 adds linux support! Its easily suprasses ePSXe in terms of emulation accuracy and to a certain extent, compatibility. Best part: No plugins to fiddle with, and you can actually edit settings AFTER you start a game! like ePSXe, though, its not Open Source.

The author doesn't mention depenancies, and there's no ebuild (yet, I'm looking into it, but have never done one before). I do know, however, that it needs gtk+ and x11-libs/gtkglext .

Don't forget a BIOS image.

PostPosted: Tue Mar 13, 2007 3:27 am    Post subject: Openrpg 1.7.1 (with caveats) Reply with quote

openrpg 1.7.1 is now out, with quite a few improvements! Sadly however, these improvements come along with a fresh new set of dependencies:

  • Python 2.5
  • wxPython 2.8

Though, nicely enough the reported features list for the game indicates that they have properly decided to store user data on un*x like operating systems in ~/.openrpg instead of in the root of the installed game folder, as well as an improved dockable tweakable window interface.

I'm working through the requirements for an ebuild in my overlay, but I'm leery of that first dependency :) for obvious reasons.

EDIT:

  • It Appears that the client will work with Python 2.4 and wxPython 2.6, though neither server or client->server connections were attempted)
