|
|
Hi,
Also I run into the window redraw problems after upgrading some X components. I have seen many threads about this but unfortunately no one could solve my issues.
Problem description:
This is the second time I see this problems. The first time a simple reemerge of xorg-server fixed it. But one week later I run again into this. Now reemrging xorg-server doesn't help any more. Also this time the redraw problem behaves slightly different than the first time. All windows are drawn well except the following:
konsole - this window isn't redrawn at all.
kopete - this window works except scrolling
kicker - New application windows aren't shown into the taskbar and closed windows stay in there. Also the highlightning of icons (onMouseOver) doesn't work
Desktop - no icons shown there
kontact - This window works for a couple of times. After reading some mails the redraw problem comes up and and the window isn't redrawn any more.
My setup:
beryl-0.2.1 with xorg-x11-7.2 using aiglx with video driver radeon (r300) on ppc
What I tried so far:
reemerged the following packages Code: | xorg-server
randrproto
libXrandr
mesa
libXfixes
libXdamage
libXcomposite | - I also tried reemergin some other X-libs but none of them fixed the problem
- Als I tried installing version 1.2.x as well as version 1.3.0.0 of xorg-server
- I masked libXrandr-1.2.1 as suggested in the corresponding bug report.
- Recompiled beryl, beryl-plugins, beryl-core, emerald
- I disabled ccache while recompiling these packages.
- Tried compiz. It shows exactly the same behaviour
Side notes:
I also switched from the kde-meta packages to the big kde packages at the same time the problems came up. I don't think that it has something to do with it but probably someone knows better...
No errors in Xorg.0.log.
No errors during beryl start.
No I am running out of ideas. Does anyone have any ideas what I could try next? _________________ Kopete OTR Plugin |

Are you running nvidia-drivers? It's a well-known bug. If you have too many windows open, every other window will be drawn black, due to lack of video-ram. |

No.... No NVidia. I have an ATI Radeon 9200 with r300 drivers and aiglx. _________________ Kopete OTR Plugin |

Have you tried using different drivers?
Maybe this page will help. Perhaps you'll need to install Xgl in order to have 3d desktop efects work properly. |

Hmmm... I had beryl running perfectly before the last updates. So I'm sure I have the right drivers.
There must be something to recompile but I just can't figure it out. _________________ Kopete OTR Plugin |

OK. I've done a during the last days. Now everything seems to be ok again except the run command dialog. I can't see what I'm typing into the edit-box.
EDIT: After rebooting I have to load kwin and then again beryl. Otherwise the desktop doesn't show any icons. There are also problems with konquerors address-field where the dropdown menu comes up but nothing is in there.
Any ideas what I could try next? _________________ Kopete OTR Plugin |
