This may belong in Off the Wall or somewhere else but as it relates to DEs and how we interact with them here goes . . .
Under Apple's Macintosh OS (since long, long ago AFAIK) closing windows, even the last one, doesn't close an application. It remains in the dock to be awoken at any time. Actually quitting an application requires more intent than just closing the last window. I've noticed this ability in Gentoo with applications such as Gaim that have a little dock applet but other than that . . . ?
Is there a way to set this up that already exists? Or is it a case of "write the fscking code your-fscking-self!" I've used Gnome, KDE, E16, E17, and Fluxbox most of all but they're all leaving me unfulfilled (with regards to this specific nit-pic).

This doesn't depend on the DE, but on the application. _________________ "Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves." - Abraham Lincoln
