I have Toshiba laptop with a TI FlashMedia card reader Code: | 03:0b.2 Mass storage controller: Texas Instruments 5-in-1 Multimedia Card Reader (SD/MMC/MS/MS PRO/xD)
03:0b.3 Class 0805: Texas Instruments PCIxx12 SDA Standard Compliant SD Host Controller |
I have 2.6.21-sabayon-r2 compiled with the required modules available, namely
tifm_7xx1
mmc_block
tifm_sd
Has anyone had any success with this piece of hardware reading SD cards? |

There's problem with these card readers on 2.6.21 kernels because developpers are working on some suspend/resume stuff. Mine is working only after I resume from disk for example. |

Yes thanks, I contacted the developer who recommended I try 2.6.22-rcX branch. Hardware specifications are rare in respect of SD etc the developers have a tough job with this one. |

I'm going to attempt to build a 2.6.22-rc4 kernel. This laptop has an Intel 3945 wifi card, I prefer to build the driver within the kernel. IIRC there is a way to take the driver and include it the kernel source tree.
Pointers anyone? |

Build the module "inside" or "outside" the kernel makes no difference at all, as it includes/links the same files. Just download the svn and build it from there (if you want to try the svn, no warranties that will solve your problem ) |
