Anyone here have a working NTLM implementation in Mozilla? I have an buddy whose website runs off IIS (unfortunately) and he's locked some stuff behind a user&pw using NTLM. Mozilla 1.4 on my windows box properly brings up an authentication dialog box, but none of my Gentoo boxes using Mozilla 1.4 do. All they do is bring up an error 401.2 - You are not authorized to view this page...
I've also tried using firebird with no success (not a real suprise).. and also checked bugs.gentoo.org.. What gives?
fyi, my use flags -
USE="X gtk2 gnome alsa -kde -qt moznoirc moznocomposer"

hmm - first of all I have to admit that I only tested this at work ... on a RH9 system
And second I didn't compile MozillaFirebird myself but used the precompiled version from their site.
Said all that I just can confirm that it worked without any problem ...

yeah, its worked on all the other machines ive tried too, Gentoo is the one I've tried thus far that doenst allow NTLM under Mozilla 1.4...
I looked at the ebuild and didn't find anything along the lines of NTLM temporarily disabled or what not..

ok well, after some newsgroup searching i ended up with an answer..
apparently NTLM authentication is not supported under any Linux build of mozilla as the current NTLM auth code isn't cross platform compatible.. Work is being done on it, and its *possible* we might see it in 1.5..
hopefully this information will help other lost souls who find it out the hard way that it doesn't work on their linux boxes..

There are some random linux ntlm projects scattered across the net if you look hard enough. Granted, no direct mozilla solution that I know of, but there are ways around it and people working on it. |
