just look for a "regular" "installing a generic linux" guide for that particular phone model.... if there's one, then you can always just grab a stage tarball for the appropriate processor and follow the handbook by jumping in at the arch's handbook's 'unpacking stage tarball' section.
compiling on a ~200mhz arm cpu or similar (which is sorta common on smartphones) with little ram is _not_ fun, however. just last thursday i queued up an emerge -auNDv world on a small dev box of mine with a 266 mhz arm cpu and 32 megs of ram... it was done on sunday, for about 60 packages including gcc. _________________ "Confident, lazy, cocky, dead." -- Felix Jongleur, Otherland

I know that is processor is problem, what about calling etc..... | if it runs any linux, you can also put gentoo linux on it. just use the same kernel, the userspace is usually no problem.
now 'calling' is bound to get tricky. i haven't even seen gpe nor opie in portage, i doubt there's apps tailored to mobile phones... but i suppose there are some around. just grab whatever other distros that can be put on the phone would use. _________________ "Confident, lazy, cocky, dead." -- Felix Jongleur, Otherland

GPE can be found in PDA overlay. But ebuilds seem to be partially broken, base gpe packages can be build, but PIM fails. I haven't seen opie ebuilds, but would be interested in them. |
