I've got ircd-hybrid running on amd64, but I can't find any. ircservices and anope and the such are all there but they have no amd64 build whatsoever. I could, obviously compile by hand, but I'd prefer to keep it all in portage, so if there's an overlay or something I could use, that would be great

you may be able to get the ~x86 ebuild to compile ok. Have you tried it?

I haven't, didn't think it was possible, I suppose I'll go skim through the docs

edit: found it, just packages.keywords as usual but using ~* *
It installed without any issues, now I'll try and work my way round the .conf files, if it works I'll file it in bugzilla

I've hit a trickier wall in that I can't figure out how to get irc services and my ircd working together. i've found instructions on setting up IRCDs (I followed the gentoo wiki has instructions for unrealircd so I used that) and the unrealircd faq seems to recomend anope, but I can't for the life of me get them to communicate being that instructions for anope all seem to be in relation to old style .confs in unrealircd. If anybody can point me to a better guide, that would be much appreciated.

I'm having problems myself with getting anope 1.7.19 and inspircd 1.1.11 communicating with each other. No working configs found yet. Anybody got a suggestion?
