Hello! I just installed Gentoo 2007.0 (kernel 2.6.22-r2) and I have a little problem with ALSA on my machine.
alsaconf successfully recognized my card and installed its driver (snd-hda-intel). Although the driver loads at boot, the sound system never works the first time. It needs to fail once before working: I start a player, open a file, it fails. I close the player. I start it again, and this time, everything works fine, and the Xfce mixer works too. Why is this happening?
After starting X, console says this:
Code: | alsa: error: master control not found. I even tried to guess wildly, but to no avail.
alsa: info: developer information follows: (send E-Mail to developer with that)

Any help with this would be appreciated. |
