I've got a very picky laptop (HP Pavilion ze4115) that I can't even get to boot with any 2.4.x series kernel (don't ask me how the install kernel boots, but it does). Given that 2.6 has a lot more hardware support (and specific support for the chipset employed on this laptop), I figured I'd give 2.6.0-test1 a try. SOOO, I compile it. All seems to go well, but on a reboot I'm not able to load any modules. It gives me the following message:
QM_MODULES: function not implemented
<module name> not found
The "Calculating module dependencies" also fails at startup. I compiled module support into the kernel, selected the modules I need (the ones it's saying are not found I compiled as well), and then did a "make modules && make modules_install". It looks like a modutils problem to me, but this entire system was built from stage1 just yesterday, so modutils should be up to date. Anyone have any ideas? |

Thanks, that fixed it right up. Posting from my Gentoo system running 2.6.0-test1 now (well, X isn't built yet. I'm stuck with lynx until I get some "real" software compiled, but it's coming along slowly but surely.) |
