|
|
I've tried installing Gentoo (2007.0) and all seemed to go okay except that upon the first reboot, SILO appears to load okay, followed by messages to indicate that th kernel is being loaded. The 'Booting Linux' Message is displayed and t system just sits there, presumably hung somewhere. Is there any way I can get more useful intormation to work out what is going on??
I had previously tried with only a single partition. This time, I followed the recommendations for /, /usr, /var and /home, but got the same results. (both with swap of course).
The disk is an 80Gb IDE, which works fine during the install process.
The boot screen has the following info:
Sun Ultra 5/10 UPA/PCI (UltraSparc-IIi 333MHz), Keyboard Present
Openboot 3.15, 256 MB memory installed, Serial #10635117.
Ethernet address .....
Boot device: disk:a File and args:
SILO Version 1.4.13
boot:
Allocated 8 Megs of memory at 0x4000000 for kernel
Loaded kernel version 2.6.21
Remapping the kernel... done.
Booting Linux...
Any help would be much appreciated.
I had previously tried the 2006.1 version and had the same results.
Regards,
Ash. |
