|
|
I have finally gotten all of the Alpha to compile (it is so great, java in Konqi almost works perfectly, can not wait for the next release, since it supposedly has the bulk of all the Konqi and Java changes ^_^), it is working great except for on annoying thing. If i try to edit the desktop properties from right clicking on the desktop, or in File manager in the control panel i get the follow error:
There was an error loading module
'Settings/LookNFeel/desktop.desktop'
The diagnostics is:
Library files for "libkcm_konq.la" not found in paths
Has anyone solved this yet? I have seen in the some of the other KDE 3.1 Alpha threads, but I think it deserves its own. Other than this little annoyance, KDE 3.1 is looking great! Cant wait for the first beta next month ^_^. _________________ aiya, tau tong ah! |

Out of curiosity, have you noticed any speed improvements? _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |

This bug isn't a real bug. It's caused of an older KDE install. KDE3.1 has a hardly modificated configuration-dialog structure. And the configuration-dialog he misses Isn't anymore there in KDE3.1.
So you should uninstall all older KDEs and it should work fine. _________________ Many greetings from Germany,

So, isn't emerge supposed to take care of "older" versions? |

Well, normally kebuildpart should work fine with KDE 3.1. But it doesn't. Probable it's because of some changes in KPart.
If it were a problem which must occur, it is somewhat different. Then the ebuild-Maintainer had 'told' the ebuild to care of it. _________________ Many greetings from Germany,

Ok, so how do I go about getting the "libkcm_konq.la" error to go away? Actually, since "libkcm_konq.la" doesn't even exist on my system, how do I go about getting it?

You don't need it.
As I said, the configuration-dialog structure changed heavily in KDE 3.1. And the dialog libkcm_konq didn't exists anymore. You have to do a Code: | unmerge prune world | to get rid of some old KDE-Files, which tells the system about a dialog libkcm_konq.
After you did that, the error never occurs again. _________________ Many greetings from Germany,

Not slower is good... I'm waiting for 'much faster' before I give it a go.
Much faster can be either my PC, or KDE. I'm not able to upgrade anytime soon tho
Thanks for the info. _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |
