(use ';' to separate domain names):

re-emerging nautilus didn't help.
revdep-rebuild didn't find anything.

I'm experiencing the same exact error. Not quite sure how or when it started, but it's very annoying. I haven't tried to re-emerge yet, but I'll give it a try when the OOo update finishes (taking ages, even on a fast machine :$)

I've noticed after an update with gtk+, pango, glib, and atk is when I started getting this issue. It's not only nautilus I'm having issues but with Firefox (by opening preferences), tilda, etc.

Anyone else noticed this?

Firefox kept working like a charm, it's just Nautilus acting up.

But now that you mention those updates.....glibmm, gtkmm and cairomm did receive an update. I think that's the moment Nautilus started failing to do its job. After a quick look at gentoo-portage.com it seems the recent versions of those packages (I'm using ~x86) are part of Gnome 2.20. But Gnome 2.20 isn't in Portage yet.
So it looks like these updates came too soon. I tried downgrading them to previous versions but gtkmm failed to compile (no problem with cairomm and glibmm). Adventurous as I am, I'm currently installing Gnome 2.20 from the gentoo-experimental overlay to see if it makes any difference.

I had problems with Firefox (It froze when the file download window was shown) and VLC. After the GTK+ downgrade everything got back to normal.

edit: I forgot to mention that I'm on amd64

I've got the same problem. Nautilus keeps crashing when you try to change the folder.
I just updated all the packages including GTK+

Upgrading to Gnome 2.20 would be a great way to resolve the problem. :)
Haven't been following closely the thread in the unsupported software forum,so i've no idea how long before it hits the offical portage tree. ?

I think there's no indication yet on when it'll hit. They're working on some small debugging I believe. But it won't take too long I think. As far as I can tell, things work better and faster and I haven't encountered any problems yet. :)

You can try nautilus-2.18.3-r1

ebuild says:

Code:

   # Fixes crashes in _browser mode_ folder opening with gtk+-2.12
   epatch "${FILESDIR}/${P}-gtk2.12-compatibility.patch"
