no profiles in embedded x86 stage1 tarball

hi

i downloaded the stage1-file for the embedded x86 architectures (stage1-x86-uclibc-2006.1.tar.bz2)
and wanted to link a profile against /etc/make.profile, but the /usr/portage/profiles -folder is empty and i couldn't
find any hint on how to write a profiles-file myself.
so anyone got an idea or knows where do download a file containing the profiles?

You will need to extract a portage tarball (of the tree, not the package) to /usr/
