Hy!

I have a wired network with a Proxy-Server that needs authentification information. I can go in the Internet with a web browser by typing these informations, but it is not possible ping a website with the console.
I have set the proxy variables in the make.conf:

HTTP_PROXY="http://name:pwt@192.168.0.98:3128"
FTP_PROXY="ftp://name:pwt@192.168.0.98:3128"
RSYNC_PROXY="rsync://name:pwt@192.168.0.98:3128"

but it still not works.

what have i to do?

It will be firewalling on your gateway server that's stopping pings from working.

Check your firewalling rules for masquerading and ensure that ip forwarding is
enabled. How do to this is easy although without knowing your exact setup it
will be hard to guide you.
