|
|
Hi all. When my system boots, it sets /dev/hdc like this:
Code: | brw-rw---- 1 root disk 22, 0 Dec 1 18:56 /dev/hdc |
but of course it should be like this:
Code: |
brw-rw---- 1 root cdrom 22, 0 Dec 1 18:56 /dev/hdc
|
This problem means that kde does not recognize a dvd as
a dvd video and does not give the correct pop up options, plus
it means that I can't play a dvd since the drive is not listed as
in the cdrom group.
If I manually chown hdc to root:cdrom then everything works.
I suspect udev is screwed up but don't know enough to verify what
rule is broken or whatever else might be wrong ...
any advice welcome _________________ .... there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth

What does the following code returns?
Code: | $ grep cdrom /etc/udev/rules.d/50-udev.rules |
Moreover, are you using pam?
If that's the case, you may want to check the configuations in /etc/security. In my computer, every file in /etc/security except console.perms are commented out. _________________ "There will be more joy in heaven over the tear-bathed face of a repentant sinner than over the white robes of a hundred just men." thanks a million, SnEptUne. I had neglected to follow
the pam upgrade guide. Everything is shiny now. ![Very Happy :D](images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) _________________ .... there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth
