I was just upgrading my whole system, which I had not done for some months, when the battery failed, had forgotten about it...
next time i boot up he brings up net.eth0, tries dhcpcd, dhcp times out, i still get an ip address and cannot connect to any other pc in the network or the internet.
now how can i fix this? if i have to re-emerge something to get it working, i would have to have internet access...
thanks in advance!!!

I've recently had some problems with dhcpcd too; try dhclient instead (emerge dhcp) |

If you know offhand what the IP range is that the dhcp server would give you, you can probably pick one in that range and get access. Otherwise burn dhcp-3.1.0.tar.gz onto a CD or save it to a disk/usb jump drive and load it from there? |

There has been some API changes in dhcpcd recently. If you have access to the server/router, I'd suggest to upgrade dhcpcd on that machine as well. If this is not possible, try to re-emerge dhcpcd with USE flag "vram" enabled. As a last solution, if you have the source files of your old installation still on your harddisk, you can try to downgrade dhcpcd to the previous version. |

USE-Flag "vram" did the trick. Again, it works. Thank you all for help! |
