An MX 440 is a little slow for ET on dual monitors don't you think. Try looking at www.nvnews.net for help as well . _________________ "Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we, they never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we." Basically what you need is a twinview setup (left of) with the same resolution on both displays. I use 800x600 bcouse my sec display is a PAL TV. Then all you need to do is change the gameresolution to 1600x600 to run in dual monitor mode.
good luck  |

How good would that work, running in dual monitor mode, anyway? When I saw the topic I thought it was a neat idea, but then the idea of crosshair location made me think. You will have the crosshair right on the seam and what good would that do? I would think it would be better to run the game with one BIG monitor (maybe a digital projector)?

Yea, I can't see why you'd want a shooter on 2 screens. You end up with a crosshair half on each monitor. Now putting in 3 monitors would be worth it - just set that POV to about 270 and use ultra-wide resolution. If these games supported a configurable 2nd display setting (like make monitor one work as always and give monitor 2 a connection to a player placed camera or give a rear-view), then I could see the utility. But why would you want a shooter to split your view across 2 displays?

True....
Playing fps in dual monitor mode sucks couse the crosshair is stuck between the 2 monitors, but hey its always fun to try new things.
have you ever tried to play q3 without the crosshair?...hehe
the dual mode is fun to experiment with, but i wouldnt use it for fps.

I just turn twinview off and restart X to fire up games...works like a charm.

I think three monitors would be ideal, allowing you to see the centre crosshair properly and still have extra spread across multiple screens... Although there is only 1 card I know of that can drive 3 displays simaltaneously heheh...
3 flat-panels is my dream  _________________ 6700 @ 2.66GHz, 4Gb RAM, 2 x 500Gb, 8800 GTX, PhysX, X-Fi, 24" Widescreen, Tux mascot |

Man, I used to play CS without crosshairs. If you play long enough, you get accustomed to where the bullets will travel on the screen, effectively negating the necessity for crosshairs. Its more difficult at first, especially with great distances, but IMO your reactionary aim improves greatly.
Crosshairs == Crutch
Oh, and 2 displays = cool, but silly. 3 displays = *drools* |

Well I got me 2 x 19" displays now and wondering how well ET would work, that crosshair in the middle of the screen would be a real drag...
If anyone has any neat suggestion on how to use the 2nd monitor I'd be interested
Works a treat watching Widescreen DVD's across both screens, even with the split! mmph _________________ 6700 @ 2.66GHz, 4Gb RAM, 2 x 500Gb, 8800 GTX, PhysX, X-Fi, 24" Widescreen, Tux mascot |
