Hi, I'm thinking about buying an MFP and was wondering whether anybody has been able to get the Epson DX4400 (or DX 4450) working on Gentoo. |

Hi, thanks for the link. Personally, I would automatically go for an HP too, but the cartridges are quite expensive (as considered by my partner), so am forced to consider other options. |

Hello, I personally have a epson dx3800 and it works quite well with linux.
I can scan and print without any problem.
I've installed iscan for the scanner and gutenprint for printer's drivers. With iscan, you can scan using gimp also
(well, this is totally true if you have a x86 arch. I have an amd64 arch and the scanning program does not work
for these arches, but you can scan with kooka, xscan or other programs of the like).
Also note this:
Code: | $ tail -4 /etc/udev/rules.d/99-iscan.rules
# SEIKO EPSON Corporation | Stylus CX4300/CX4400/CX5500/CX5600/DX4400
ATTRS{idVendor}=="04b8", ATTRS{idProduct}=="083f", MODE="0660", GROUP="scanner"
LABEL="iscan_rules_end" |
So it seems that there are rules for your dx4400 too
Cheers. _________________ Search: google.com | forums | Wiki

alet_roux,
Epson support linux. Check out the epkowa driver on their website to see if it supports the device you have in mind.
Its a binary blob, if you don't mind that.
Google has some success stories but I did not read the details. _________________ Regards,
