same way as you would any other rpm. rpm -i package.rpm (i think)
i would highly recommend porting it over to gentoo's standards though, as our standard paths are different than redhat's. but it's really optional... as long as it's not overwriting anything.
cheers _________________

To do as bunder says, you may have to first emerge rpm, which installs the RedHat Package Manager. Or if you use KDE, you could emerge kpackage. _________________ Windows = a 32-bit extension to a 16-bit graphical shell for an 8-bit operating system originally coded for a 4-bit microprocessor by a 2-bit company that can't stand 1 bit of competition. |

Would it not be easier to use the .deb. I know some ebuilds use them allready (the nsplugins32 ebuild for one is on the forums somewhere). _________________ Current Project Thread (myth2avi) |

There are many ways you can do it. rpm works well enough for most packages although, in my experience, the "--nodeps" argument is required for nearly all of them. If you use something like alien, you can convert a .rpm or .deb file into a .tar.gz. It can be helpful to do that then look at the resulting file with something like mc to see exactly what the package does and install manually if you wish. _________________ Be lucky,

i think you'd need to find an ebuild dev for that one. _________________

I think the devs are busy enough already therefor I will skip the porting part for now
