Hi all,
I really want my Sony MP3 stick player to work under linux.
I got this far:
dmesg says
Code: |
hub.c: new USB device 00:1f.2-2, assigned address 3
scsi0 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices
Vendor: SONY Model: NW-MS7 Rev: 1.05
Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02
Attached scsi removable disk sda at scsi0, channel 0, id 0, lun 0
SCSI device sda: 126848 512-byte hdwr sectors (65 MB)
sda: Write Protect is off
/dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0: p1
WARNING: USB Mass Storage data integrity not assured

My computer sees the stick. I then mounted it.
Code: |
# pwd
/mnt/sonystick/hifi
# ls
a3d00001.msa a3d00005.msa a3d00009.msa a3d0000d.msa pblist.msf
a3d00002.msa a3d00006.msa a3d0000a.msa a3d0000e.msa
a3d00003.msa a3d00007.msa a3d0000b.msa a3d0000f.msa

Hey great, that works too!
The .msa files are the songs. I've read they are in ATRAC3 format and mencoder can encode that format from mp3. I just havn't managed to find in the mencoder docs how to do it.
After that, I guess I can just copy the encoded song over and it would work. I just need help with encoding those mp3s. |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that ATRAC3 is Sony's own closed audio format, so I don't think there's any other way to encode than using Sony's software in Windows. |
