|
|
I go to do an update today and found this:
Calculating world dependencies ...done!
[ebuild N ] dev-java/java-config-0.2.2 to /
[ebuild N ] dev-java/blackdown-jdk-1.3.1-r5 to /
[ebuild N ] dev-libs/libmcrypt-2.4.19 to /
[ebuild U ] dev-lang/php-4.1.2-r8 to /
I don't use or even like Java, and my system has been running fine without it... So who suddenly decided it's an integral part of my system?
I do use encryption but nothing I run has needed libmcrypt before- so I'm not sure why that one is trying to install.
It's a good thing I always use --pretend first. |

Do you have "java" in your USE variable? |

No, USE is quite thoroughly devoid of things I don't want.
It's not like it's trying to install java for a browser or something... All I have is Lynx and don't even have X installed. |

I saw a note on this either in the docs or in bugzilla. Too lazy to look for it, but there's something about this has been, or will be fixed. AC/D |

There was something in gentoo-user about this, it was the case that Java would be pulled in when you do an --update world whether or not it had been installed. Try updating just portage to the latest version, then try your world again. |
