I'm having an issue (and it is JUST with the PPC gentoo) with XF86 and Gtk.

The only way to really describe it is like 'gaps' in the rendering. heres an example: [url=http://www.kontrol-log.net/img/badshot.jpg]

It gets worse than that but its the only one I could get to stick around long enough for the screen shot. It seems to affect all applications that use Gtk -- even mozilla. It doesn't happen when I use a gkt theme that has no pixmaps in it, but it still effects mozilla ( since moz uses its own, but still uses gtk).

I'm thinking theres an XF86Config setting to fix it as I had this problem with YellowDog ( 2.2 I think ) -- Their Xconfigurator asks if you want to enable "Accerlation features" or not - saying no to that would get rid of the error but I never got curious enough to find out WHAT exactly. Any ideas?

After spending two days scouring the web for any hints, ideas, tips anything about this problem, I finally figured I'd give a good read of the XF86Config(5) man page. Sure enough, anybody who experiences display problems with X and Lombard PB (if not more -- probably has to do with the ATI Mach64 card ), try this out:

In your Screens section add the line:

Option "Accel" "Off"

Like a charm.

Also, an additional feature that's pretty sweet is this:

Under ServerFlags

Option "StandbyTime" "15"

Then under your Monitor section add:

Option "DPMS" "On"

I'd been trying to figure out how to get DPMS working for a year on this stupid laptop. <sigh> Sometimes linux can be so frustrating.
