Ok so this is the last abit board i am ever buying, with that said there are 4 sata ports on this thing. Listed as Nvidia CK804 Sata something or other.

On boot i get the following while try to sue the sata_nv driver in kernel

ata1: SATA link up 1.5 SStatus 113 SControl 300
ata1.00: ATA-7 max udma/133 blah balh
ata1.00: ata1 multi count 16
ata1.00: qc timeout ( cmd 0xef )
ata1.00: failed to set xfermode ( err_mask=0x4 )
ata1.00: limiting speed to udma/100
ata1.00: failed to recover some devices...
REPEATED

I would provide additional info but the cable guy came today and decided to replace my cable modem with on that has a built in firewall and now i cant get back online...

Try using the AHCI driver for SATA. Also, set the BIOS to put the SATA controller in AHCI mode. I have a motherboard based on an NVidia chipset. I couldn't get sata_nv to work right, but sata_ahci works great!

Yes i looked and looked for the AHCI mode but for some reason i don't have that mode. I did try switching over to that driver without changing the mode and does not find any devices.

anyone know why adding irqpoll to the boot line seems to resolve the issue?
