There needs to be an option with emerge to install binary prebuilt packages.. your package system owns but it takes forever to compile the biggies like GCC and XFree... i know this is supposed to be source but could you possibly add like an einstall and make it a hybrid SRC / BIN distro? that would make EVERYONE happy |

possibly... but the idea with gentoo is precisely the capability to build stuff from source when you have the ability to do so |

Remember that as you are building the system you can build your own binary packages at the same time, just pass --buildpkg to emerge.
Then if you need to reinstall, you'll have all you binary packages in /usr/portage/packages/All and you can reinstall from there. _________________ Troy
