|

Hi
I have an Intel 82571EB Pro/1000 AT Quad Port Bypass Card and the system recognizes it as such in lspci. However, there are not interface devices associated with the card. Right now I have 2 onboard ports as well as a 1 port NIC that are recognised as eth2, eth3, eth4. But then there should be eth5, eth6, eth7, eth8 or something like that. Why arent these showing up?
Thanks

Do you have the correct driver loaded for that particular card? |

How would I do that? I thought seeing as lspci recognizes the card that the correct driver would be loaded. Ive looked for drivers online, but the only one I could find was for Redhat. |

lspci tries to recognize all devices, that way it becomes a useful tool to check what drivers you actually need to use on a particular system
This is one of my huge gripes about windows... older versions wouldn't tell you much of anything about unknown devices, and the newer versions only give you the PCI ID numbers... |

Both mario18 and BradN are correct. If, after reading the handbook link that mario18 sent you, post the relevant output of your lspci here. I'm sure someone either has your hardware, or at least can point you in the right direction. |

Thanks for your help so far guys. So I looked into into recompiling in the driver and the one I think should fit has already been compiled in. Its the Intel Pro/1000 Pci-E driver. So just for kicks I compiled in every 1000Mbit network driver and the card still doesn't work. Here is my lspci. What should I do now? I assume there is a driver if lspci recognizes it, or am I wrong? BSD has a working driver so I can try and port it if necessary.
