|
|
I've emerged succesfully gDesklets-0.20 and I've downloaded SysInfo-0.20.tar.bz2 directly from official site.
When I run: Code: | gdesklets <mypath>/Sysinfo.display |
the installation works, but when I launch
obtain Quote: | Invalid display file '/home/mrfree/download/gdesklets/SysInfo/sysinfo.display'
The display file contains invalid data and could not be loaded. |
Any ideas??? _________________ Please EU, pimp my country!

If you run gdesklets in a terminal, it will give you a more detailed description. eg. Image not found, invalid xml, etc. _________________ Real men use every GAIM protocol. |

If you look at the other gDesklets thread for a tar of the -core and desklet- ebuilds, I purposely left SysInfo out because it seemed far too buggy for me. |

Excuse my ignorance, but how do I get it to show some sensore?
I emerged the ebuild linked above, but I cannot find where the sensors are stored.
I assumed I could find it from the output of the emerge, but I must be having a brain fart... _________________ Face it, we are all noobs.
On the box it said it was designed for Win XP or better, so why won't it work with Linux? |

If you're running GNOME Applications->Accessories->gDesklets Displays and click on the folder, and then the .display. Sensors only provide information to Displays, they don't provide anything visible, which is, by their nature, for the Displays to do. Displays can be added from /usr/share/gdesklets/Displays. |

It's /usr/share/gdesklets/Sensors
Btw, the ebuild prints the info after it builds the sensors, prolly I should have made it to print after it merges it. I'll fix that and I'll post an update later today. _________________ cd pub && get beer |

If you're using my ebuilds in the other thread (the version 0.20 ones), then I can ensure you that the Displays are in /usr/share/gdesklets/Displays. |

Sorry if I was confusing, I was using the other ebuild.
Anyways, I got it working. Thanks you two!
Now, I just need to make sure gdesklets loads the same displays I have set right now when I open the program.....it is kind of a pain lining them up and whatnot.
Also, I would like to make the background of the display semi-transparent. _________________ Face it, we are all noobs.

Posted 0.20-r1 as promised. Added few more sensors, got rid of the warnings, and moved the how-to info to be displayed after merge. You can get it here. _________________ cd pub && get beer |

Seti Sensor seems to be broken, it complains about an invalid display, and it may be broken. Is there an issue with the desklet or is it me? _________________ Main ~ AMD64 3400+, NVIDIA 7600GS, 1gb ram

scott,
i got the same errors as you. i opened the seti.display file with a text editor and noticed that it's trying to load sensors that you might not have (they don't come with seti sensor) . you need to get LTVariations and IconButton. install the sensors that are related to your problem and you should be fine. |
