aargh, my sb live is driving me mad. it's driver loads fine, and i have it load the driver, and the driver loads fine, but then when I run an application that has a sound output, it only puts it through the subwoofer and the left channel. I have a 2.1 system, so it couldn't be that I have it set incorrectly for that, as hte subwoofer isn't working, I'm wondering what it's doing. if anyone could help, I would greatly appreciate it. |

Are you using ALSA or OSS? |

Not that it will help any, but I had this problem too... after numerous tries, I gave up and just switched back to multiple os'es... _________________ Grtz,

I'm using the driver that comes with the 2.4 series of kernels, compiled as a module. I have yet to try it in another machine. the thing is, I compiled the 2.6-test5 kernel, and I think that might be the problem, as it's system.map is what the system is using, but not the kernel. |

Don't have any experiance with the development kernels, or what they do to your system. My thinking is that it shouldn't impact anything, but at the same time, there's a reason why I still have n00b standing
But seriously, I haven't had any issues using ALSA on my board, and in fact, it's worked much better then it did under OSS. The documentation for getting ALSA to work under Gentoo is in the documentation section of the web site. If you do want to stay with the OSS drivers, the emu10k1 tools might be of some use in correcting your problem.
Anyone here set up their Live card under OSS? |

I'm using an SB Live with 2 speakers. I never figured out what the problem was with the kernel module from the 2.4 line...i'd only hear output from one speaker. But it didn't matter that much, as I do an emerge emu10k1 after each new kernel recompilation. |
