I have a Gentoo laptop that checks the file systems every 29 boots or so. This gets annoying because I do a lot of tweaking and thus reboot frequently. How do I change it to check the file systems on boot once a month, every two months, or whatever?

audiodef,

The only tweaking that needs a reboot is a kernel update.

You need tune2fs. See
Code:
man tune2fs
or you can disable checking by setting the number at the end of the corresponding /etc/fstab entry to 0.

Thanks, Neddy.

Yeah, I shouldn't have to reboot to tweak, but until recently, I was having this logout problem where logout would take up to 2 minutes, so it was faster to reboot. Now that problem is gone, but is replaced by another where the keyboard stops working on logout so I HAVE to kill xorg and restart it when I logout.

The fun never ends. :P
