Is there a way to replace binary packages with source packages? I did a GRP install and emerged a few binary packages, I'd like to remove them and replace them with source packages if possible so I don't have to spend so much time running fixpackages. Where can I look to see what binary packages I have installed, can I just emerge unmerge them and them re-emerge them?

Thanks.

Just delete the binary packages from /usr/portage/packages/All, no need to re-emerge anything just for fixpackages.

I have half a dozen files in the /usr/portage/packaes/All directory but I have never built or installed a binary package. Any idea how they got there?
Code:
ptolemy root # ls /usr/portage/packages/All/
binutils-2.11.92.0.12.3-r2.tbz2  glibc-2.2.5-r2.tbz2
gcc-2.95.3-r5.tbz2               glibc-2.2.5-r7.tbz2
gcc-2.95.3-r7.tbz2               ncurses-5.2-r6.tbz2
gettext-0.11.1.tbz2              texinfo-4.2-r5.tbz2

Thanks Genone,

I finally got around to removing my binary packages from /usr/portage/packages/All/ and now fixpackages runs in seconds.

Thanks!
