I just installed postfix and mutt, and after changing the config file, as it said in another forum, it seems to recognize my mailbox. Also, I can send mail to root just fine, the same with all the other accounts. However, no matter what I do, no messages show up when I try to check my mail. Any ideas? |

Anything interesting in your /var/log/mail.* files (mail.log, mail.info, etc)? |

I think its not a postfix issue, as postfix ususally does not deliver email to mailboxes (expect local maildir transport i think)
Do you use courier ? cyrus ? What did you set the "transport" setting in the main.cf to ? If you use maildir, does the mail arrive there ? |

If you made the changes to your aliases and run the newaliases command, the emails send to root will be then sent to whatever alias you specified for it.
Ex. if i set a root alias of jhboricua on my box, then the emails sent to root will show up in jhboricua's mailbox, not on root's mailbox. Did that make any sense?
Also, make sure that the following directories are present under the .maildir directory for the given user: cur, new and tmp
So if you do a ls /home/youruser/.maildir, you should see those 3 directories listed under it. For some reason, sometimes they don't get created properly and thus mutt complains about .maildir not being a mailbox.
If they are not present just log in as the user, cd to the .maildir directory and do a mkdir for cur, new and tmp. Now you should be a able to send a message and view it. |
