Hi,
I am using the hibernate-script for suspending/hibernating my system.
It used to work without a problem, but not I noticed the kde isn't locked anymore when I do a suspend (hibernate-ram).
What might be the problem?
My /etc/hibernate/common.conf looks like this:

I do not see any error messages about this in /var/log/messages or Xorg.0.log

Are you by any chance using gdm? If you are you might want to install KDM (even though you are not going to use it as your default login manager)

Hi,
maybe the problem is this:

kdesktop_lock seems not to work. But locking the session using the lock session symbol in KMenu is working, screen saver is working too and the system is locked after a couple of minutes automatically ...
Recently I upgraded to kde-base/kdebase-3.5.8-r6. Maybe there lies the problem ...

I noticed this on my laptop, too. After updating sdystem/world the system hibernate-ram needs ages and kde isn't locked.
The only solution I ever found was to re-emerge kdescreensaver and kdesktop.
I have no idea why the hibernate-ram script suddently can't use kdesktop_lock through dcop any more, but after the re-emerge everything goes back to normal. (At least on my machine...)
