|
|
The good folks over at www.licq.org have been kind enough to release a new version of LiCQ! I've attached an ebuild & patch to bug #5826 (https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5826). I haven't had the chance to test it fully, but it seems to run just fine on my gcc3.1/kde3.1a box.
Enjoy! |

Tried to build it, but it failed in the configure stage, complaining about vector.h which I have in my system. _________________ There's someone in my head but it's not me - Pink Floyd |

The patch shoulda taken care of that one. What version of gcc are you running? |

Just download the ebuild and put it in the portage tree yourself. Or better yet, with version 2.0.22 of portage you can specify a seperate directory for your custom ebuilds. Just edit your /etc/make.conf file and add the line PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/portage.local/" (change the path to suit). Make the needed directories, in this case net-im/licq and put the ebuild file in it.
You will also need the patch, put it under net-im/licq/files and you should be good to go.
Hope this helps.... |

i cant even find a plugin directory.
..searching google i found refferance to this error messege but it was for rpm based licq pkgs that had the gui stuff left out by mistake....older licq versions.
anyone have a suggestion....i copied the ebuild from the link lin_matt gave and the patch, saved them and named them correctly using kate to the net-im/licq directory of portage (the patch to the files directory in the licq directory).
i then ran $emerge -s licq which showed the 1.2.0a version so i ran emerge licq...complained about no digest so i cd'd tot eh licq directory ran ebuild licq-1.2.0a.ebuild digest.
then ran emerge licq again and it seemed to compile fine, no errors till i tried to run it. |

Try starting it like this:
licq -p kde-gui
The ebuild defaults to just building the kde (if your USE has kde set) plugin instead of the plain qt one. This will give ya a nice little dock icon in your panel.
There are actually four different gui plugins at the moment; kde, qt, console and gtk. Unfortunatly(sp) I can only get the kde and qt to compile on my gcc 3.1 box....
BTW, if you want the qt plugin also, just export USE="-kde qt" before emerging licq........ |

thanks ...the
worked , as for use setting i didnt add or change anything to make.conf other then the cpu optimizations.
if i added kde set to the USE in make.conf and emerged it again would it then give me the panel icon and work with just the cli command licq?
is that what you meant?
or do i just need to pass the USE="-kde qt" before i emerge it...would that set it all strait? |

If that command worked, just go into the settings on licq and check the "Use Dock Icon" option. That will give ya the panel icon.
If I'm not mistaken, kde is part of the default USE flags hence the kde plugin being compiled.
Actually, you should just be able to start it by typing in the licq command from now on. It stores the last plugin you used as the default. The USE="-kde qt" would give you the lib_qt-gui.so plugin which is the generic qt interface (without kde panel support) |

I only needed to run with -p kde-gui once. Later it seems to remember, and start with it. _________________ There's someone in my head but it's not me - Pink Floyd |

I can recommend sim otherwise if you want a icq-only icq client instead of gaim and the likes of it, sim also handles server-side contactlists and uses the new icq protocol.[/b] |
