|
|
I've tried just about everything I can think of short of debugging kopete on this one, which is in the works now. (rebuilding kopete with debug turned on)
I prefer kopete because of the video support, so that's why I haven't switched to adium... yet (or purple or whatever-the-heck-it's-called now
anywhoo, if anyone knows anything about this please advise. TIA
resolution: kopete was trying to use the "Now Listening" plugin and hard-locking at some point in the process. I'm not going to mess with it now since it doesn't support my audio player anyhow (audacious).
If anyone wants to suggest a way to get amarok/alsa/xine working together then let me know. alsa is working fine, xine is working fine with alsa, amarok works (mostly) with pulseaudio, but amarok->xine->alsa doesn't work for whatever annoying reason and I've never gotten the combination to work on gentoo. _________________ -SL

hah, already some info
after finishing the rebuild in --debug mode I ran kopete without plugins and it worked fine. (kopete --noplugins)
so, at least that narrowed it down a bit.
if anyone knows a way to show which plugins are being loaded it would help greatly since running with --disable-pluin <name> could be used to narrow down the culprit _________________ -SL

found it
it's the translation service that's completely buggered.
My settings were for English/Babelfish and show original message. afaik auto-translation is disabled. _________________ -SL

scratch that
coincidence only on the translation plugin. It locked up after enabling it, but was instead caused by the "Now Listening" plugin but only after a delay while it attempted to mess with amarok, which doesn't work on my system due to limitations with alsa/xine. I'm using audacious since I don't have time to figure out what amaroks problem is.
with "Now Listening" plugin disabled this problem goes away. marking as resolved. _________________ -SL
