Hi i would like to make a bootable gentoo usb stick that i can carry around and boot gentoo on any pc that supports booting from usb.
How would i start this thing? Should i just mount the usb drive as my root partition and install gentoo on it?
How would i make this work on different hardware. Should i try to get some hardwaredetection or should i try to make everything generic (aka framebuffer and every damn thing in the kernel compiled as a module) or what should be done?
This is merely an experiment, if it can't be done or it's to much trouble i don't mind dropping the idea, but it would be incredibly cool to have my own gentoo usb image

what the hell is going on with the search in these forums, i get the impression something is wrong with it, i had searched for usb stick but didn't find that post. Right now i tryed to search on some of the posts in my bookmarks and they didn't always show up.
