I would like to see some options added to the package list page. [http://www.gentoo.org/index-packages.html]. I think as the package list continues to grow, the page will become even harder to navigate.
Something like a package search as well as a way to specifically list by Category type, so that you can list all packages listed in app-office only. |

That would be a nice convienence in the future, but keep in mind that most Gentoo users (at least the "target audience") are sysadmins or programmers who already know what they want/need.
Aside from that, you can use emerge -s or qpkg to find out if an ebuild exists for a specific program.....

I agree, how about just databasing them with links to their respective home pages and abillity to sort them by type. I may want to research packages that I am unfamiliar with and compare them with what I know. |
