Kde changes permissions on /dev/snd/* and /dev/sound/*

When I start kde, the ownership on all device files in /dev/snd and /dev/sound gets changed to current-user.audio, and the permissions change to 600. Obviously, no other user, even if they are in the audio group can use sound until I restore audio devices to 660 root.audio.

What can I do to fix this?

I've suddenly started having this
problem again too, and I can't
see what would have engendered it.
