Hi,
Title says it all. No codec for 64bit version, no realplay/helix players for 64bit, even source rejects to compile......I'm at a loss. realcodecs doesn't work.
Will anyone tell me how?
Thanks in advance.

I'm trying to compile mplayer with USE="real", but "emerge -p mplayer" says: Code: | [ebuild N ] media-video/mplayer-1.0_rc2_p28450 USE="X a52 aac aalib alsa ass dts dv dvd encode gif gtk iconv ipv6 joystick jpeg live lzo mad md5sum mmx mng mp2 mp3 openal opengl oss png pnm pulseaudio pvr quicktime radio rar samba sdl sse sse2 theora truetype unicode v4l v4l2 vorbis x264 xscreensaver xv xvid xvmc -3dnow -3dnowext (-altivec) -amrnb -amrwb -arts -bidi -bindist -bl -cddb -cdio -cdparanoia -cpudetection -custom-cflags -custom-cpuopts -debug -dga -dirac -directfb -doc -dvb (-dvdnav) -dxr3 -enca -esd -fbcon -ftp -ggi -jack -ladspa -libcaca -lirc -mmxext -musepack -nas -nemesi (-real) -rtc -schroedinger -speex -ssse3 (-svga) -teletext -tga (-vidix) (-win32codecs) -xanim -xinerama -zoran" VIDEO_CARDS="vesa -mga -s3virge -tdfx" |
i.e. real is disabled. Why?
PS: for reference, my "emerge --info" is Code: | $ emerge --info

You don't need binary codecs, ffmpeg can now play RV40 and RV30 files, with mplayer and theirs internal version of ffmpeg you can play realmedia files. I don't know which version but with unstable version of mplayer I am sure you can do this. I use live version from overlay so I don't know details, which version etc. I think I saw once realmedia use flag or something like that but anyway you don't need real flag, that flag is masked for amd64, maybe also for x86, I don't know, if you want binary codecs (not recommended) you can unmask use flag for that package. Did you try to just play the video? |

Thanks. Somehow mplayer can play the video. I haven't tested. Thank you! _________________ Tetsuji Rai
