hi
after resetting my system (because it was completely frozen - no chance to do anything but press reset) fsck failed, i boot it again, it booted ok, but now filesystem shows the amount of free space wrong. I have 1.4GB free on my home, but when I try to compile something i get "no space left on device". I've had similar problem when I was using 1.4_rc4 (now 1.4) (alsa after resetting working linux. the only solution I came to then was formatting the partition. now I would prefer not to do that. please help - how may I repair this partition? (this is ext2 parttion) is it normal that ext2 parttions are so "fragile"? is ext3 more "reset proof"? i know that fat32 is more resistant, because at work i have to reset working win98 at least 3 times a day :-)
thanks in advance for any suggestions
best regards
yemu

Unless you are manually compiling something in your home direcory, the space problem doesn't have anything to do with /home. Check /var/tmp/portage, erase all it's contents and try to emerge the package you want again.

this is the output of df:
Code:

System plików         bl.  1K B        u?yte dost?pne %u?. zamont. na
/dev/root              6736100   4565980   1827940  72% /
/dev/hda9              4854488   1689576   2918316  37% /home
/dev/hda1              6144828   5732256    412572  94% /mnt/win_c
/dev/hda5             10552376   9687736    864640  92% /mnt/win_d
/dev/hda6             49146816  47526400   1620416  97% /mnt/win_e
none                    257320         0    257320   0% /dev/shm
