|

I have kdelibs 3.1.4 installed and when I try to do an emerge -u world I get kde libs blocking QT. Emerging QT is the same. I read
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=85391&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=25
And the only suggestion that will work for me is to unmerge kdelibs and then emerge QT then KDE. I just wanted to make sure there was no other option before I undertake such a task, especially as it feels a little risky. Any other suggestins?
Thanks!!
Jason

No, you can update Qt without updating KDE. You just need to physically remove the dependency line in the kdelibs ebuild.
Version of KDE < 3.1.4 don't work with Qt 3.2, so it's necessary to have this block in place.
Some people have unmerged KDE before installing Qt 3.2, then reinstalled KDE, but that shouldn't be necessary. |

I get this even though I have KDE 3.1.4 installed. The problem is that I have KDE libs 2 installed as well for some unknown program (any easy way to find this out?). |

qpkg -q -I kde-base
qpkg is part of app-portage/gentoolkit, if you don't have it installed.

I already tried it the destructive way: unmerge it and see what breaks. Nothing, it seems. Oh well. |
