I am trying to browse using nautilus from my linux box to a share on a windows machine. From the gnome main menu, I do Applications -> Network servers. Double click on Network neighborhood. I see the workgroup I want listed. Double click on the workgroup. I see the machine I want list. Double click on the machine. I get a dialog box that says:
Code: | The action associated with "smb://skeeter" is invalid.
You can configure GNOME to associate a different application or viewer with this file type. Do you want to associate an application or viewer with this file type now? |
Neither of the buttons on the dialog box - Cancel or Associate Action do anything. (To get rid of the dialog requires hitting the close icon. )
I never get asked for a password or username, though I have seen in various post that others doing the same general thing at least get asked for a password.
I have opened the windows share to "everyone" and still no luck.
Ideas welcome. |

Hi, I had the same problem. I bypassed the problem by adding the IP and hostname of my windows machine to "/etc/hosts" file. After this, double click on your shared icon, nautilus will then ask for username and password and upon the correct info, u'll be in your shared machine. It's strange, seems that nautilus isn't able to get the IP of the remote machine. Hope this can be solved in the next release of nautilus. |
