|
|
Upon compiling the display manager entrance on my system, I get the following error message:
Code: |
gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I../../src -march=pentium3 -O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -Wall -c EvasTextEntry.c
In file included from EvasTextEntry.c:3:
/usr/include/Ecore_X.h:416: parse error before "pid_t"
/usr/include/Ecore_X.h:416: parse error before '}' token
/usr/include/Ecore_X.h:416: parse error before "ecore_x_window_prop_pid_get"
|
And then the ebuild dies. I've checked the .h file and there's nothing obviously wrong with it, so ... I submit the question to the good people of the Gentoo forums now. Help?
Thanks!

The problem with that is that I am building an entire system without the use of KDE/GNOME. I am getting fed up with how bloated those two are getting, so I've switched to the new XFce4. Unfortunately, I want something a little prettier than XDM as a login manager -- hence, where entrance comes into the picture.
I don't mind running alpha code. Generally, alpha code on Linux tends to be more stable than production code on Windows, so it's all good.

The most recent ebuild of entrance does emerge. It has now been ported to Edje and is just dripping with eye-candy. You will need to use edb_gtk_ed to edit the file /etc/entrance_config.db . I noticed that running a 4.3.99.14 X does NOT work with the entranced command........ so downgrade if needed.
Like all of e17 ,,,, it is visually superior to the competition, and a PITA to get up and running. |

Yeah, like the bug report from above states, the entrance emerge just needed to have its CVS repository updated into a TAR GZ file. It looks like, as of 10/18, they have done it. |

Regardless of what settings I change in the .db file is still kicks me into Xsession only.....
of course I want to be in e17 ... so it is of no use the way it is (for me)
Still has alot of potential ... but the bugs need to be squashed. |

Mine correctly kicks me into XFce4. I'm not running Enlightenment. Sorry. |
