This is a problem Opera had a while back, which is why I switched to firefox for a while. There are two:
first, Opera can't seem to load asynchronously. That is: if I have several tabs open, and one of them is loading an element that isn't responding, I can't do anything with any other pages, or close tabs, until I cancel that page's load. In other words, if Opera can't finish loading one thing on one page, it can't do anything else in the meantime. This is super-annoying.
Second: the save dialog doesn't work. Specifically, I was trying to download a windows dll to get a program working in wine, from this page. Clicking the download button opens a window with another link. Clicking that link gives me the open/save dialog, which proceeds to do nothing. I can't close it, close the tab, close the popup, or anything: I have to kill Opera. This is also super-annoying.
Any suggestions on how to fix either of these problems?
Thanks,

I'm having the first problem as well since I updated to opera-10.10b. With the 10.0 version this worked just fine.
I downgraded back to 10.0 right after and weirdly enough the problem is happening there too now.... Of course a lot of other packages were updated since I was doing a "--update --deep world" so maybe it's an update from a different package that is causing this?
I hope someone has a solution for this, it's quite annoying |

Same problem here.
Haven't tried downgrading, but had some spare cycles so I tried rebuilding everything used by opera (emerge -e opera) to see if that changed anything. I think it did, but not enough. I'll post my emerge --info - someone might find a clue there. I'll update if I find a solution.
[edit] I did try moving my .opera to see if a new profile would do any good, it did not [/edit]
My emerge --info:

Ah, there's even a gentoo bug on it, and a workaround (emerge opera with the qt-static use flag enabled). More info here: https://bugs.gentoo.org/287905
I guess this bug could be marked as solved?

Nice, thanks for the info!
Emerged opera with qt-static and it's working perfectly again now. |
