|
|
my fan died and ati's tech support didn't exaclty help (i'm not under warranty anymore).
it is an agp 7500 64mb, and right now i have a fan that is laying on top of a pci card blowing at the heatsink.
i want to remove the fan so i can get my last pci slot back.
can i just remove the fan? (the never radeon 7500 pci's have no fan, just heatsink)
or even better, does anyone want to give me theirs?
any help is appreciated.
thanks. |

It's nearly impossible to find a fan that fits into the depression of the heatsink - if you can't find one (maybe on ebay?) I'd recommend to remove the stock heatsink and replace it with an Thermaltake Orange Orb (~13) or Vantec Iceberq (~10). If you want to spend more money, the Zalman ZM50-HP (~20) cools passively and also doesn't block a PCI slot.
AFAIK only the Radeon LEs comes with an passive heatsink.

You may be able to use one of these if the heat output isn't excessive:

It's designed for a northbridge but you can buy them for about $6usd. It will stick out enough that you will lose one pci slot but these days who needs them all anyways. I've used these on cards where the fan failed and I knew it didn't need a fan. |

Yeah I've got a Radeon fan, but I killed him and disposed of the body. Get a GeForce or you're next!!! _________________ MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk

That fan probably came out of something else. I'll dig around and see if I can find the right one.
Okay, check the picture in my earlier post again. (Click the thumb for full size.) It looks like tha part numbers match. |

It worked when I replaced it with the Crystal Orb. Loud? Well, my system has eight 80mm fans, one 120mm fan, the Crystal Orb and two 10K SCSI HDD's running so I can't really say.
Priority mail with delivery confirmation costs $4.35, so if you stick a five dollar bill inside a couple sheets of printed paper in a standard envelope and send it to me you will basically get it for free plus shipping. If you want it cheaper and slower, so be it. LMK. I really don't care, this would be just doing you a favor.
I do lots of trading. |
