|
|
I just wanted to let you guys know that Mangler (a Linux vent client) now supports ALSA in the latest svn. This is awesome news! I am using it now and it works perfectly. I will never need to mess with vent in wine or reach back to hit a key on a laptop again. So anyone working on an svn ebuild? _________________ Gentoo Gaming Videos |

Good to know, although I have it working fine via PulseAudio
I submitted a -9999 ebuild when I 1st found out about mangler. A Gentoo dev picked it up and made a 1.0 version (in-tree) and added the -9999 ebuild to the multimedia overlay
so layman -a multimedia and emerge it from there
I still use my because well... I wrote it _________________

I prefer to stick with ALSA which has been working great for me for a long time. I have hardware mixing sound cards and I see no reason to switch to pulseaudio but many reasons not to. As such I am very happy about the addition of ALSA support to mangler. There are still a lot of Linux users that do not use pulseaudio and this is of great benefit to them.
BTW: Now that a configure flag can be passed to compile mangler for ALSA the mangler-9999 ebuild should remove the pulseaudio dependency when the "alsa" use flag is present. I will look into where to report that later. _________________ Gentoo Gaming Videos |

OSSv4 can interface with PA now, so this shouldn't be an option _________________
