I install fedora12 on vmware server 2.0,X11 work fine on fedora12.Then I install gentoo in /usr/gentoo on fedora12.Then I run "#chroot /usr/gentoo /bin/bash" to enter gentoo system.I want to run anothor Xserver which is different from Xserver in fedora12.I run "Xorg -configure" in gentoo,I get "no devices to configure" error.
I run "startx" in gentoo,I get "No devices detected. Fatal server error.no screens found." error.
I run "lspci |grep VGA" in gentoo,I get "00.0f.0 VGA compatible controller : Vmware SVGA II Adapter".
How to run another Xserver in gentoo? |

Welcome to Gentoo!
I've never tried to run another Linux in chroot, can't tell whether it should work. In any case, it won't work without correct video driver. You need to examine your Xorg log to see what's wrong.
Why not run Gentoo in another virtual machine? |

Yes,it is difficult to work in chroot.
My real goal is to run oracle 10g for linux in freebsd 8.0. |

So as I asked before, why don't you run Gentoo in a new virtual machine?
Did you try running it using Linux emulation in FreeBSD?
Gentoo is a whole GNU/Linux operating system with its own kernel, as such you cannot run it in chroot. I misunderstood you before, I was thinking you want to build apps using Gentoo portage in chroot.

| Do you know there is linux_base-gentoo-stage3 in ports? Meaning you can run Gentoo Linux emulation without virtual machine. |

Moved from Desktop Environments to Gentoo on Alternative Architectures.
(BSD isn't an "architecture" but this is more appropriate than Unsupported Software. Either way, this isn't your typical Gentoo platform, so better off here.)
