I don't think he means simple thumbnails but something similiar to this:

To view the thumbnails, make sure you have eye of gnome installed.

Has anyone tried the new GTK2 built Gnome Commander ? It looks pretty nice.
The also have the similar Gfilerunner which is also GTK2, but has some other non-filemanger features. |

I don't know if any one knows but IExplorer is eplorer (well the thing with maps) and vica-versa.
They use each other as plugins or something. |

ROX-Filer all the way!
I use two ROX-Filer windows with each at 800x1200 to take up half of my screen - works beautifully - i love gtk2 apps. _________________ I will keel yoo grub |

Krusader is probably my favorite. Fastest file manager I've used, it's easy to use too and has a lot of features as well as support for virtually all protocols. _________________ No one is a virgin, life screws us all. |

I've found a few ebuilds at bugs.gentoo.org concerning rox-filer, but I am unsure, is rox in portage rox-filer? Anyone? |

Does Velocity have the feature of Nautilus that allows you to use your home directory as your desktop? It's the one feature that's keeping me glued to Nautilus, I love it ^_^ |

Unfortunately, no, it has not been implemented yet. But it should be soon. And anyway, it shouldn't be very hard. _________________ old outdated sig |

Well, I like velocity, but that's the one thing that's keeping me from switching...so...until that feature gets added (or until I have enough free time to sit down and add it myself ^_^), looks like I"m stuck with Nautilus...I really can't do without my home dir being my desktop I'm afraid =\ |

I'll second that. A two-panel filemanager, with the conveniences of KDE? Kick ass. Plus, if you really feel the need to, it's damn near possible to do all file operations from the keyboard. If you use Midnight Commander or just remember the good ol' days of DOS, this will feel as comfortable as an old shoe. It may not give you thumbnails of .avi files or manage your picture collection, but it helps you manage files. Isn't that what a filemanager is for?
Warning: it's a KDE app. If you don't like KDE or don't want KDE installed for some reason, this is not the app for you. |

I have almost the exact same in nautilus. When in a folder with pictures in, I can choose "View as image collection", and it shows thumbnails on the bottom, picture in the middle of the screen, and some metainfo to the right. I think gthumb is responsible for putting the feature there. |

It also thumbs my movies too, putting nice little film style borders on the sides _________________ Gentoo/AMD64, shell-tools, net-mail, vim, recruiters
